Time dolazi do pomicanja dobne granice rađanja odnosno žene rađaju u sve kasnijoj životnoj dobi, a tada je njihova reproduktivna moć sve slabija.
Abstract (english) The main goal of this graduation thesis is the analysis of fertility indicators in Croatia during the period from 2000 to 2020. Fertility indicators such as the number of births, crude birth rates, total fertility rates and changes of specific fertility rates according to the age of the mother were observed. Through this paper, the analysis of births according to the educational level of the mother as well as births out-of-wedlock was conducted, and the average age of birth of the first child was determined. Sources of data were Croatian Bureau of Statistics and Eurostat. The analyzed demographic trends are supported by tables and charts to make it easier to understand the phenomena. The results of this research indicate the continuation of negative demographic processes and trends that have affected the population of Croatia in the last century. There is a further decrease in the total population, as well as a decrease in fertility, that is fewer and fewer births. The changes that have affected modern society, including the increasing education of women as well as their commitment to their careers, have led to the postponement of marriage as well as the postponement of the birth of the first child. The changes that have affected modern society, including the increasing education of women as well as their commitment to their careers, have led to the postponement of marriage as well as the postponement of the birth of the first child. This shifts the age limit for giving birth, apropos women give birth at a later age, in which the reproductive power of women weakens. As a result, many couples end their fertile period without or with fewer children than they wanted at the beginning of the period, which in turn leads to a drop in fertility rates. The changes that have taken place have also led to a change in values regarding marriage and the family, and therefore there are more and more new forms of families that do not include marital union. In order to moderate these demographic trends, it is necessary to apply an active demographic policy. Special attention should be paid to the implementation of family policy.
