Abstract Razvojem suvremenog društva, i usavršavanjem industrijskih strojeva te širenja njihove primarne namjene, dolazi do sve veće upotrebe rashladnih tehnika.
Abstract (english) With the development of modern society, and the improvement of industrial machines and the expansion of their primary purpose, there is an increasing use of refrigeration techniques. Refrigeration technology is an integral part of many industrial machines, devices for public and personal use and is an integral part of modern living conditions. Refrigeration technology is also used on ships, most often for the transport of cargo such as food, animals, etc., that is, cargo that needs certain temperature conditions to maintain its qualitative properties. Cooling systems may differ depending on the type of ship, but most of them have many components in common or very similar. Absorption cooling devices use heat for the operation of the cooling device, for the needs of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC -Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning system). The consumption of electricity is very low, and when waste heat is used as a heat source, the energy efficiency becomes very high. Waste heat sources are available on board that can be used to power an absorption chiller. This can be steam or hot water produced by the exhaust gases of the main engine or hot water from the cooling system of the main engine. The main advantages compared to a compressor-driven refrigeration system are the reduction of marine fuel consumption and the use of environmentally friendly (zero GWP), non-toxic and non-flammable refrigerants such as LiBr−H2O
