Luigi Pirandello è uno degli autori più importanti della letteratura italiana e mondiale e vincitore del Premio Nobel per la letteratura. Sia nelle opere drammatiche che nei romanzi, attraverso i suoi personaggi penetra facilmente nella profondità della coscienza di ogni lettore. Abbiamo iniziato l'analisi dai modelli narrativi veristici, passando per il decadentismo, al relativismo conoscitivo, dove si apre il tema del rapporto tra vita e forme. Abbiamo spiegato che si parla sempre di forme al plurale, poiché la vita è presentata come un unico “sé autentico” e ci sono sempre più forme, a seconda della situazione e del contesto sociale in cui ci troviamo, sia che le forme creiamo noi o altri ce le assegnano. Abbiamo anche menzionato i nuclei fondamentali di Pirandello come il vitalismo e l’umorismo. Si spiega anche lo stile dei romanzi di Pirandello e le caratteristiche principali dei suoi personaggi. Attraverso i suoi sette romanzi, Pirandello espone i personaggi a una riflessione, conscia o inconscia, della propria identità, del senso della vita e dell'esistenza. Poiché ogni personaggio rappresenta l’opposizione tra vita e forma in un modo unico, abbiamo analizzato momenti specifici dell’opera in cui il personaggio si oppone alle forme e li abbiamo accompagnati con citazioni che mostrano lo stato mentale del personaggio. In conclusione, rispondiamo alla domanda fino a che punto Pirandello descrive la propria identità attraverso i suoi personaggi e se porta un messaggio al lettore in termini di vivere e rappresentarsi attraverso le forme.

Luigi Pirandello is one of the most important authors of Italian and world literature and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. In both dramatic works and novels, through his characters he easily enters into the depths of the conscience of every reader. We started the analysis from veristic narrative models, passing through decadentism, to cognitive relativism, where the theme of the relationship between life and forms appears. We explained that we always talk about forms in the plural, since life is presented as a single “authentic self” and there are always more forms, depending on the situation and social context to which we are exposed, whether we create these forms or others assign them to us. We also mentioned Pirandello's fundamental principles such as vitalism and humourism. Other than that, one paragraph explains the style of Pirandello's novels and the main characteristics of his characters. Through his seven novels, Pirandello exposes the characters to a reflection, conscious or unconscious, of their own identity, the meaning of life and existence. As each character represents the opposition between life and form in a unique way, we analyzed specific moments in the novels in which the character opposes the forms and accompanied them with quotes that show the mental state of the character. In conclusion, we answer the question to what extent Pirandello describes his identity through his characters and if he carries a message to the reader in terms of living and representing ourselves through forms.
