Istražena obilježja važna su za razvoj društva naseljenog na navedenom prostoru. Dostupni podaci analizirani su uz pomoć Microsoft Office Exela i programa ArcGIS. Cilj istraživanja bio je napraviti detaljnu analizu ukupnog i prirodnog kretanja stanovništva, migracije i dobno-spolnog sastava stanovništva te obrazovnog, gospodarskog i narodonosnog sastava stanovništva. Detaljnu analizu ukupnog kretanja napravljena je za razdoblje 1971.–2021., a prirodnog kretanja stanovništva bilo je potrebno napraviti u vremenskom razdoblju 1971.–2020., dok je detaljnu analizu prethodno navedenih sastava stanovništva bilo potrebno napraviti u vremenskom razdoblju 1971.–2011. godine. Osim migracijskog salda koji je napravljen do 2021. Uz analizu podataka bilo je potrebno utvrditi moguće uzroke i posljedice,. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su porast broja stanovnika u dva od pet promatranih razdoblja, dok su u preostala tri razdoblja pokazali pad odnosno porast broja stanovnika ovisno od grada do grada. Pokazali su da se stanovništvo gradova najviše naseljava iz drugih gradova iste županije. Podaci dobno-spolnog sastava stanovništva pokazali su kako stanovništvo gradova svakim provedenim popisom stanovništva sve više stari. Rezultati za pojedine strukture stanovništva pokazali su poboljšanje obrazovne strukture, dominaciju tercijarnog sektora u gospodarskoj strukturi od 1971. godine do 2011. godine, a rezultati narodonosnog sastava stanovništva pokazali su najveći udio Hrvata, Talijana i Srba.
Abstract (english) In this thesis, through the analysis of available literature and statistical data, as well as hypotheses, the demographic characteristics of the cities of Istria County, which are important for the development of the society living in the mentioned area, are investigated. The available data were analyzed with the help of Microsoft Office Excel and the ArcGis program. The goal of the research was to make a detailed analysis of the overall and natural population movement, migration and age-sex composition of the population, educational, economic and ethnic composition of the population. It was necessary to make a detailed analysis of the overall movement in 1971-2021, and of the natural movement of the population in the time period 1971-2020, while a detailed analysis of the aforementioned population composition had to be made in the time period 1971-2011. years. In addition to the migration balance that was made until 2021. Along with the data analysis, it was necessary to determine the possible causes and consequences, which influenced the obtained research results. The research results showed an increase in the number of inhabitants in two of the five observed periods, while in the remaining three periods they showed a decrease or an increase in the number of inhabitants, depending on the city. They showed that the population of cities is mostly settled from other cities of the same county, and the data on the age-sex composition of the population showed that the population of cities is getting older with each census. The available literature that describes the educational, economic and ethnic structure of the population of Istria County or its cities is very scarce, therefore the causes and consequences are derived on the basis of the obtained results. The results for the mentioned structures showed a positive trend within the educational structure, the dominance of the tertiary sector in the economic structure from 1971. to 2011., and the results of the ethnic composition of the population showed the largest share of Croats, Italians and Serbs
