Abstract Odgojiteljska profesija se uvelike promijenila u odnosu na stoljeće prije. Odgojitelji se danas svakodnevno susreću s novim izazovima, vještinama, ulaganjem u svoje znanje i usavršavanje, poboljšavaju ne samo kvalitetu profesionalog razvoja sebe kao osobe, nego i ustanove u kojoj rade. Važno je spomenuti da svaki odgojitelj treba imati određenu kompetenciju ili više njih kako bi što bolje odradio ciljani zadatak ili savladao sve moguće problemske situacije koje ih mogu snaći. Također, kompetencije se stječu inicijalnim obrazovanjem koje je dobiveno nakon završenog sveučilišnog programa. Nakon toga potrebno se kontinuirano usavršavati kako bi dostigli što bolje rezultate u svom odgojno-obrazovnom radu. Međutim, kompetencije i profesionalni razvoj nisu jedino kroz što odgojitelj treba proći kako bi napredovao. Kontinuirano usavršavanje u svrhu cjeloživotnog obrazovanja, ključna je stavka pomoću koje poboljšavamo odgojni rad. Stoga, će se navedenim diplomskim radom analizirati suvremeni modaliteti cjeloživotnog obrazovanja odgojitelja grada Šibenika i okolice. Diplomski rad se sastoji od dva dijela. Prvi dio je teorijski dio i obuhvaća poglavlja pod nazivom: „Odgojiteljska profesija“, „Profesionalne kompetencije odgojitelja“, „Cjeloživotno obrazovanje i usavršavanje odgojitelja“,te „Suvremene modalitete cjeloživotnog obrazovanja“. Drugi dio rada je istraživački dio rada koji se sastoji od metodološkog pristupa radu te analizi i interpretaciji podataka. Istraživanje je provedeno na razini grada Šibenika i okolice. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 60 ispitanika (odgojitelja), na istraživanje su odgovarali anketnim upitnikom izrađenim preko google forms obrasca. Na kraju upitnika je ponuđeno jedno otvoreno pitanje gdje su sudionici mogli dati svoje ideje kako poboljšati odgojni rad, ako smatraju da je potrebno.
Abstract (english) The profession of educator has changed a lot compared to a century ago. Educators today face new challenges and skills every day, and by investing in their knowledge and training, they improve not only the quality of their professional development as a person, but also the institution where they work. It is important to mention that every educator should have a certain competence or more in order to perform the targeted task as well as possible or overcome every challenging situation that may they may find themselves in. Competences are also acquired through initial education obtained after completing a university program. After that, it is necessary to continuously improve in order to achieve the best possible results in their educational work. However, competences and professional development are not the only things that educator needs to go through in order to progress. Continuous training for the purpose of lifelong education is a key element by which we improve educational work. Therefore this thesis will analyze the contemporary modalities of lifelong education of educators in the city of Šibenik and its surroundings. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part is the theoretical part and includes chapters entitled: "Teaching profession", "Professional competencies of educators", "Lifelong education and training of educators", and "Modern modalities of lifelong education". The second part of the work is the research, which consists of a methodological approach to work and data analysis and interpretation. The research was conducted in the area of Šibenik and its surroundings. 60 respondents (educators) took part in the research. They filled out a survey questionnaire created via Google Forms. At the end of survey questionnaire, one open – type question was offered. This way the participants could give their ideas on how to improve the educational work, if they think it is necessary.
