Abstract
Toksoplazmoza, koju uzrokuje protozoon Toxoplasma gondii, globalno je značajna parazitarna bolest koja pogađa ljude i životinje. Protozoon T. gondii ima složen životni ciklus, s mačkama kao konačnim domaćinima, gdje se odvija spolna reprodukcija, i svim toplokrvnim životinjama, uključujući ljude, kao posrednicima. Toksoplazmoza je u svijetu široko rasprostranjena, s različitim razinama invazije infekcije diljem svijeta. Visoka seroprevalencija često se nalazi u regijama s toplom, vlažnom klimom i lošim sanitarnim uvjetima. Pored malih preživača, svinje su prepoznate kao značajan izvor invazije za ljude. Niža seroprevalencija zabilježena je u svinja koje se uzgajaju u zatvorenom tipu uzgoja sa kontroliranim uvjetima upravljanja i barijerom za glodavce i mačke. Istraživanja su pokazala da je najčešći izvor invazije za svinje, oocistama onečišćena hrana.Kako bi se spriječio unos na farmu, u svinjogojskim objektima se trebaju provoditi programi kontrole mačaka i glodavaca. O značaju reprodukcijskih poremećaja i galaktogene invazije u krmača još uvijek nema dovoljno podataka. Spoznaje o ekonomskim gubicima uzrokovanih toksoplazmozom u svinja su još uvijek oskudne.
Abstract (english)
Toxoplasmosis, caused by the protozoan T. gondii, is a globally significant parasitic disease affecting humans and animals. T. gondii has a complex life cycle, with cats as definitive hosts, where sexual reproduction takes place, and all warm-blooded animals, including humans, as intermediate hosts. Toxoplasmosis is widespread in the world, with varying levels of infection worldwide. High seroprevalence in humans is often found in regions with warm, humid climates and poor sanitation. In addition to small ruminants, pigs are recognized as a significant source of infection for humans. A lower seroprevalence was recorded in pigs reared in a closed type of rearing with controlled management conditions and a barrier for rodents and cats. Research has shown that the most common source of infection for pigs is food contaminated with oocysts. In order to prevent the introduction of oocysts into the farm, programs for the control of cats and rodents should be implemented. There is still not enough data on the significance of reproductive disorders and galactogenic route in sows. Knowledge about the economic losses caused by toxoplasmosis in pigs is still scarce.
