Abstract
Jetra je najveća egzokrina žlijezda u pasa sa središnjom ulogom u održavanju homeostaze organizma. Bolesti jetre ili hepatopatije javljaju se kao akutne ili kronične, prirođene ili stečene te primarne ili sekundarne. Klinički znakovi oboljenja javljaju se tek po gubitku većine jetrene funkcionalne mase te su nespecifični, otežavajući tako pravovremeno postavljanje dijagnoze. Dijagnostički pristup hepatobilijarnim bolestima treba biti sveobuhvatan, odnosno za postavljanje sigurne dijagnoze potrebno je u obzir uzeti nalaze kliničkog pregleda, laboratorijskih pretraga krvi, slikovne dijagnostike i patohistološke pretrage tkiva. U pasa su većina hepatobilijarnih oboljenja nepoznate etiologije pa se liječenje bazira na upotrebi potporne i simptomatske terapije s ciljem usporavanja progresije bolesti. Novija istraživanja pokazuju kako rana dijagnostika i individualizirani pristup liječenju značajno poboljšavaju prognozu i kvalitetu života oboljelih životinja. Stoga je cilj ovog rada obraditi i predstaviti sve učestalo korištene metode dijagnostike i terapije bolesti jetre u pasa, s posebnim naglaskom na najčešće bolesti – kronični hepatitis, hepatopatije povezane s bakrom, bolesti žučovodnog sustava i kongenitalni portosistemski šant.
Abstract (english)
The liver is the largest exocrine gland in dogs and plays a central role in maintaining the body's homeostasis. Liver diseases, or hepatopathies, can be acute or chronic, congenital or acquired, and primary or secondary. Clinical signs of liver disease appear only after the loss of most of liver's functional mass and are non-specific, making it difficult to make a timely diagnosis. A comprehensive diagnostic approach to hepatobiliary diseases is necessary, including clinical examination findings, blood laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging and histopathological tissue examination. In dogs, most hepatobiliary diseases are of unknown etiology, so treatment is based on supportive and symptomatic therapy aimed at slowing progression of the disease. Recent research indicates that early diagnosis and individualized treatment approach significantly improve prognosis and quality of life in affected animals. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present all commonly used methods for diagnosing and treating liver diseases in dogs, with special emphasis on the most common diseases – chronic hepatitis, copper-associated hepatopathies, biliary tract diseases, and congenital portosystemic shunt.
