Abstract
Hromost je značajan problem svinjogojske proizvodnje. Iako hromost može biti uzrokovana kongenitalnim ili razvojnim poremećajima, većinom se javlja u proizvodnih životinja kao posljedica infekcija, traumatskih ozljeda ili degenerativnih promjena. Osteohondroza (OC) je najčešći uzrok hromosti svinja u rastu. Osteohondroza nadalje može napredovati u ostechondrosis dissecans (OCD) ili osteoarthritis (OA). Važno gospodarsko pitanje je sprječavanje razvoja osteoartritisa jer sve veća učestalost osteoartritisa utječe na održivost, rast i/ili reprodukciju svinja u intenzivnom uzgoju. Današnje rutinske dijagnostičke metode zasnivaju se na procjeni hromosti, bolnosti zglobova te ultrazvučnoj i radiološkoj dijagnostici. Postojećim metodama nije moguće dijagnosticirati osteoartritis u ranim fazama bolesti. Reparacijske sposobnosti hrskavice u kasnijim stadijima bolesti su ograničene, stoga je nužno dijagnosticirati bolest što ranije te isključiti oboljele životinje iz daljnjeg uzgoja. Određeni biološki pokazatelji koji se nalaze u sinovijalnoj tekućini i serumu mogu poslužiti kao vrijedna metoda praćenja oštećenja i reparacije zglobne hrskavice te bi ta metoda trebala biti dio rutinske dijagnostike. Daljnja istraživanja potrebno je usmjeriti na razumijevanje genetskih i molekularnih osnova bolesti te pronalazak ranih metoda dijagnostike, kako bi se takve jedinke izlučivale iz uzgoja i/ili liječenje moglo započeti u ranijim fazama bolesti, prije nastupa ireverzibilnih promjena degenerativnih bolesti zglobova u svinja.
Abstract (english)
Lameness is a significant problem in pig production. Although, lameness can be caused by congenital or developmental disorders, infection, traumatic injury and degenerative changes are the most common cause in farm animals. Osteochondrosis is the most common cause of lameness in pigs during development. Further more, osteochondrosis can thrive in osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) or osteoarthritis (OA). The important economic issue is to prevent the development of osteoarthritis owing to the increasing incidence if osteoarthritis affects the viability grow and /or reproduction of pigs in intensive breeding. Nowadays the basics diagnostics tools are ultrasonography and radiography, as well as, assessment of lameness and pain is also of grate importance. Using the existing methods is not possible to diagnose osteoarthritis in the early phase of the disease. Reparative ability of cartilage in the later stages of the disease is limited, so it is necessary to diagnose disease as soon as possible and excluded affected animals from breeding. Certain biological indicator that are found in synovial fluid and serum can be used as a valuable methods for monitoring of damaged and reparation of articular cartilage. Those methods should be a part of routine diagnostics procedure. Further research should be directed towards understanding of the genetic and molecular basis of disease. Early diagnostic methods could prevent further development of the disease, prior to the onset of irreversible changes in the joints.
