Abstract
Među najčešćim endokrinopatijama u pasa i mačaka nalaze se hiper- i hipoadrenokorticizam, hipotireoidizam u pasa i hipertireoidizam u mačaka. Navedene bolesti imaju različite patofiziološke mehanizme nastanka te stoga različito utječu na organizam. S obzirom da hormoni štitne i nadbubrežne žlijezde imaju značajan utjecaj na probavni sustav, svaki poremećaj njihovog djelovanja se može očitovati sljedećim simptomima od strane probavnog sustava: polifagijom, anoreksijom, promjenom tjelesne težine, povraćanjem i poremećajem ubrzanog pražnjenja želuca, proljevom, hepatopatijama, pankreatitisom, prekomjernim rastom bakterija u tankom crijevu, opstipacijom, melenom i hematemezom. Iako su navedeni simptomi nespecifični za endokrinopatije, većina ih nestaje pri pravilnoj terapiji primarne endokrine bolesti. Dijagnostika se temelji na kliničkim i laboratorijskim pokazateljima. Također se provode specifični funkcionalni testovi poput ACTH-stimulacije, test supresije niskom dozom deksametazona, mjerenje ukupne serumske koncentracije hormona štitnjače i TSH. Liječenje se provodi, ovisno o primarnom uzroku, medikamentno ili kirurškim metodama poput bilateralne adrenalektomije.
Abstract (english)
Hyper- and hypoadrenocorticism, hypothyroidism in dogs, and hyperthyroidism in cats are among the most common endocrinopathies in dogs and cats. These diseases have different pathophysiological mechanisms of origin and therefore have different effects on the body. Since the hormones of the thyroid and adrenal glands have a significant effect on the digestive system, any disturbance of their action can be manifested by the following symptoms by the digestive system: polyphagia, anorexia, weight change, vomiting and impaired gastric emptying, diarrhea, hepatopathies, pancreatitis, small intestine bacterial overgrowth, constipation, melena, and hematemesis. Although these symptoms are non-specific for endocrinopathies, most disappear when properly treated for primary endocrine disease. Diagnosis is based on clinical and laboratory indicators. Specific functional tests such as ACTH stimulation, low-dose dexamethasone suppression test, measurement of total serum thyroid hormone concentration and TSH are also performed. Treatment is performed depending on the primary cause, medication or surgical methods such as bilateral adrenalectomy.
