Abstract
Rad obrađuje pojmove kao što su regija, regionalizacija, regionalna politika, regionalizam, načelo supsidijarnost i decentralizacija. U radu su opisani preduvjeti za razvoj regionalizma, trendovi u razvoju regionalne samouprave te su prikazani temeljni dokumenti vezani za regionalizam. Također, opisan je regionalizam u Europi, počevši od samih početaka do novijih iskustava u Europskoj uniji. Opisuju se i problemi s kojima se susreće regionalizam u RH, ali i mogući pravci reforma za poboljšavanje istog procesa.
Abstract (english)
Since globalization processes significantly decrease sovereignty of a country and centralized governing limits democratization it is clear that Europe sees its future in further development of regions and regionalism. I have analyzed regionalism in depth through eight chapters explaining the founding documents for this concept as well as the characteristics of regionalism in Europe and Croatia. To contextualize regionalism I have revised the ideas of region regionalization and regional politics. Regions are an active and important part of political decisions on the European scene, this trend strengthened the position of regions on the national level as well. Regional management should induce social and economic development of the regions and therefore decrease differences in development of particular parts of a country which is the primary goal of regional politics.
