Pandemic is not a new event in the history of mankind considering the fact that mankind has faced various pandemics in history. However, the common characteristic of all pandemics is precisely their serious negative effect on the global economy. Consequently, the COVID-19 crisis hit all economic sectors and became a global test of immunity, including almost all countries of the world. The specificity of the COVID-19 crisis is that there was a ban or restriction on the work of economic entities along with interrupted or limited supply chains, which led to a decrease in consumption and income. The food industry is one of the most important economic branches in Croatia, and according to the number of employees and the income it generates, it is the most important part of the processing industry in Croatia. Its importance is also evident in its connection with other industrial branches such as agriculture, animal husbandry, chemical and biochemical industry, transport and trade. Taking into account the importance of the food industry in the Republic of Croatia, there was a need to analyze the impact of the crisis on the operations of the four largest Croatian companies from the food industry. The paper examines their operations in the period before the crisis (2019) and during the period of the crisis (2020 and 2021).
