For people with a damaged hip, having endoprosthesis done significantly improves the quality of life. A hip endoprosthesis functionally and morphologically replaces a healthy joint, and is implanted in a procedure called arthroplasty. The primary indication for TEP (total endoprothesis) in chronic joint disease is severe pain that causes limited activity. Osteoarthritis is the most common indication, but conditions such as rheumatic diseases, aseptic necrosis of the femoral head, tumors, and hip fractures can also lead to replacement surgery. Rehabilitation process can be divided into preoperative and postoperative. The rehabilitation plan is designed for each patient individually, but the goals are similar for everyone. After preoperative rehabilitation and the procedure, the patient begins postoperative rehabilitation, the course of which depends on the preoperative condition of the hip (indication for surgery), age and general condition of the patient, type of endoprosthesis and approach and the quality of preoperative rehabilitation program. Postoperative rehabilitation consists of early phase, intermediate phase and late phase. The emphasis of early rehabilitation is in preventing the occurrence of more serious complications, especially hip dislocation. The goal of late rehabilitation is to achieve a proper gait pattern, improve range of motion and maximum muscle strength, improve balance, proprioception and the return to daily activities. The quality of life after the implantation of a hip endoprosthesis improves because the person does not feel pain, has a better range of motion, stronger muscles due to exercise and the only limiting factor are the precautions must be warry off.
