Oral health, as an important factor of general health, is important for the military population due to the specific nature of the tasks and the conditions in which the army is performing them. Military tasks require a high level of physical fitness and functionality, as they are most often performed in areas where primary health care is not easily accessible. For this reason, preventative medicine is very important factor in reducing the likelihood of the health problems and the susceptibility of the disease to the smallest possible extent. This includes the knowledge of members of the Croatian Army (HV) about proper care for both general and oral health. The aim of this paper is to give a brief overview of oral cavity diseases and the importance of oral health for the military population and to examine the knowledge and attitudes of the HVU cadets about oral health. The survey was carried out on a voluntary basis and the number of cadets who participated in the survey was 30, of which 19 men and 11 women, with the average age of M = 20,90 (SD = 2,526). The results of this study had shown that the quality of oral health of HVU cadets is satisfied, but still due to a small sample, all results should be considered only as real-life assumptions. Although the cadets are generally satisfied with their teeth appearance, based on the results of sweet foods and soda drinks consumption, and the way they clean their teeth (low use of interdental brushes, tongue cleaning tools and dental floss), it can be concluded that cadets are not familiar with the importance oral health and with the proper care of the same. Based on all of the results above, it could be concluded that there is a need for educating the cadets on oral health and introducing this topic into their teaching content.
