This paper discusses infantry weapons which we encounter in the everyday military environmnent, namely portable anti-armor systems. The subject is covered from the very appearance of armored units on modern battlefields, where it is elaborated in more detail how the development of manual rocket launchers came about. Then, we come to the process of modernization, where the term anti-tank combat begins to be seen in a broader sense and changes to the term anti-armor combat. Furthermore, the emphasis is placed on the soldier who, in order to be effective in anti-armor combat, needs to be well-armed and trained to handle this type of weapon. Precisely for the sake of understanding the tactical and technical features of portable anti-armor systems, two such systems, the reusable RPG-7 and the disposable hand-held rocket launcher M-80 (Zolja), are discussed in detail in the paper. Finally, anti-armor combat itself was covered, namely, attack, defense, and ambush in anti-armor combat.
