This paper examines the Russian influence in the Western Balkans. In the following chapters, we will provide a historical overview of the development of Russian policy in this region, with a focus on the period after the Cold War until the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis. Furthermore, attention will be given to the current war in Ukraine in order to gain insight into the geopolitical landscape of Europe and the disposition of Balkan and European states. The aim is to explain Russian objectives in the Western Balkans. Additionally, the tools used for propagating and glorifying the Russian identity will be mentioned. What remains to be clarified by the end of the paper are the economic ties of Russia in this region, diplomacy, and the perspectives of Russian influence in the Western Balkans. Russia's undeniable presence through the media in Balkan countries that have not joined the European Union, especially in Serbia, which not only is not an EU member but also avoids the mere thought of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), will be addressed. The research question posed in this paper is the aim, method, and consequences of Russian activities in the Western Balkans, as well as the analysis of activities taking place under its engagement. The objective of this paper is to analyze the influence of the Russian Federation in the Western Balkans. It will examine the political, social, and economic impact on this region and attempt to process the significance and influence of Russian policy in the Western Balkans, as well as Russia's strategic, economic, and traditional geopolitical interests that explain its presence there. Possible reasons why Russian foreign policy has historically had an impact on the Western Balkans will be explored in this paper
