Aquatic parks in the Istrian County are very important from the touristic point of view. Istralandia and Aquacolors contributed to the development of even three tourist destinations: Porec, Novigrad and Brtonigla. The increase in the number of guests and their interest in this kind of entertainment, that includes the whole family, make us believe that these two attractions are an important part of the developement of the County itself. The subject of this research essay is the analysis of aquatic parks in Istria as dimensions of touristic development. The very appearance of strategic marketing and development, its definition and goals will be analyzed. Then we will look at the image of the development of Istrian tourism in the past and present, and what kind of influence water parks have on local tourism. To what extent it was profitable to invest in such a kind of entertainment and what are the estimates for the future? The objectives of this final paper are to get acquainted with the very theme of strategic marketing and strategic development in general and the analysis of the development of Istrian tourism before and after the opening of water parks. Their opening is extremely important for touristic development of the towns of Poreč, Brtonigla and Novigrad, given the content they offer, as it is well known that Istria is a resort area predominantly oriented towards family tourism. For the purposes of this research, a common methodology will be used to produce a scientific piece work consisting of the use of available documentation and literature, for the sake of conceptualizing the relevant contents by applying the appropriate combination of the following research methods: analysis and synthesis methods, induction and deduction methods, comparative, descriptive, statistical methods as well as compilation methods.
