The global environment consists of buildings of different types, functions and purposes and they are filled by man and adapted to their needs. It is important to consider the role of the space in which it resides with regard to it's purpose, so there are areas for housing, entertainment and socializing, exercise, learning, health care facilities, catering services, utilities but also public and private spaces, social purposes. Planning, design and construction of public and social buildings – elementary schools, must be within the legislative framework of the legal system of the Republic of Croatia and in accordance with the rules of the profession. The exterior and interior of the elementary school and other factors affects the stay of students in school, their satisfaction, work motivation, learning and meeting educational goals. Modern architecture and design are increasingly used, which dominates in the design and architecture and construction of elementary schools in the Republic of Croatia, as opposed to the massive and old architecture with which elementary schools were built many years ago. Nowadays, special attention is paid to energy efficiency and energy renovation of buildings and one of the examples of newer architecture and energy renovated elementary school is the Sveta Nedelja Elementary School in the Republic of Croatia.
