Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius L.) is our non-migratory nesting bird and the number of its nesting population has been estimated at around 100 thousand pairs. It resides in most of our habitats and is more numerous in the continental than the coastal part of the country. Within this research the continental part of the Republic of Croatia has been included. A total of 90 jay skulls were collected and processed during 3 years (2015-2017). 8 craniometric measurements were taken of the skulls using a displacement meter. Jay specimens used in this paper had the greatest length of skull (GL) in average 64,67 mm, condylobasal length (CBL) in average 57,63 mm, the greatest breadth of the skull (GB) in average 27,57 mm, the greatest breadth across the Processus postfrontales (GBP) in average 14,70 mm, the smallest breadth between the orbits on the dorsal side (SBO) in average 9,11 mm, the greatest height in the median plane (GH) in average 28,76 mm, the length from the median trigonous protrusion to the most aboral point of the frontal lobe (LP) in average 28,94 mm, and the greatest length from the tip of the beak to the frontal lobe of the maxilla (LI) in average 35,71 mm. With this research it is found that there are no significant differences in craniometric characteristics of jay skulls and that, with the assumption that there were both male and female specimens among the samples, there are no significant differences in skull sizes between them.
