Abstract
Rimljani su prvi počeli koristiti „javnu rasvjetu“ paljenjem uljanica. Pariz je prvi grad s javnom rasvjetom 1876. godine zahvaljujući rusu Pavelu Yablochkovom, dok je Nikola Tesla zaslužan za prvu javnu rasvjetu u Republici Hrvatskoj, u gardu Šibeniku. Javna rasvjeta utječe na sigurnost prometa. Sigurnost prometa s gledišta vozača odvija se preko osjeta vida, kojim vozač dobiva 95% informacija. U situaciji kada je smanjena vidljivost zbog vremenskih neprilika ili zbog mraka, važnu ulogu ima rasvjeta. Raskrižja, kružni tokovi, pješački prijelazi, tuneli, vijadukti su mjesta posebne javne rasvjete zbog veće mogućnosti nastanka prometne nesreće. Danas se javna rasvjeta razvija u smjeru da troškovi rada i održavanja budu što niži i da se smanji svjetlosno zagađenje okoliša.
Abstract (english)
The Romans were the first to start using "public lighting" with oil lamps. Paris is the first city with public lighting in 1876. thanks to the Russian, Pavel Yablochkov, while Nikola Tesla is credited for the first public lighting in Republic of Croatia, in town of Šibenik. Public lighting affect on traffic safety. Traffic safety from the driver's perspective take place through the sense of sight, from which the driver gets 95% of information. In a situation of poor visibility due to bad weather conditions or because of the dark, lighting plays important role. Intersections, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, tunnels and viaducts are places of specific public lighting due to the higher possibility of a traffic accident. Today, the public lighting is developing in the direction of making the labor and maintenance costs as low as possible and to reduce light pollution.
