Abstract
National culture is a multilayered, multilevel and complex dimension of the external environment of the organization. In order for organizations to operate successfully, they must do well in the culture of their local communities, national culture and all the cultures of all the countries in which they operate. This dimension also impacts the people and shapes their behavior from an early age, which is also a determinant of their behavior later within the organization as employees. Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is a rapidly expanding and evolving concept regarding how and why people contribute to their organizations, even beyond their assigned formal roles. Understanding OCB is necessary in order to maintain efficient social systems, but also to motivate employees to select behaviors that give them the best opportunity to achieve their individual and organizational goals. The main goal of this master thesis is to establish to what extent organizational citizenship behavior might be connected with different national cultures. The research on OCB has been conducted and the results were drawn. It has been found that both countries have similar total scores, but Spain takes a small lead. Both demonstrate more OCB-O behaviors, rather than OCB-I.
