Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation – Outcome Measure).
Abstract (english) | The main goal of this study was to find out if professional stress and working environment have an influence on social pedagogues mental health, physical health and perception of personal well-being. First part of the thesis covers theoretical concepts connected to professional stress, mental health and professional helpers with a focus on social pedagogues. Second part of this work presents the survey results gathered from social pedagogues working in different sectors from all over Croatia. This study had a total of N=82 participants. A questionnaire was created for this survey and it included questions regarding demographic data, working environment of the social pedagogues, Index of personal well-being (International Wellbeing Group, 2013), Questionnaire of intensity of work burnout (Ajduković i Ajduković, 1994) and Questionnaire regarding general problems with CORE-OM (en. Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation – Outcome Measure). The questionnaire covered these specific areas: working environment of social pedagogues, general psycho-physical state of social pedagogues, the presence of the stress symptoms, personal self-assessment of the level of work burnout and satisfaction with one's life. Results of the survey show that one-third of participants feel exposed to the potential physical threat or attack on their job, while third of participants stated that they don't have any professional help even from their colleagues. 81.3% of participants emphasized that they don't have supervision. Half of the participants are under mid range stress intensity, while 6.6% of participants are under a great intensity of stress. We confirmed a significant positive connection between stress symptoms and mental health. In other words, the more stress symptoms are present, the more damage to mental health is made. Questionnaire of work burnout shows that more than half of the participants do not have burnout symptoms, but one-third of participants show initial symptoms of burnout, while 7.5% of participants suffers from high intensity burnout. Results of CORE-OM questionnaire show that participants of this survey face different difficulties regarding personal well-being and functioning. Participants have the fewest difficulties in the field of risk behavior. Index of personal well-being showed that social
pedagogues are satisfied with the relationship with their family and friends. On the other hand, they have problems in the field of personal well-being. |
