Today there is increase of importance of technology in everydays life and it is almost impossible to pass by technology in all aspects of modern people. From its bigginings in the middle of 60's in the last century and after rising development of many Internet browsers in the middle of 90's up to today the role of Internet was getting bigger and we can see its influence in many segments: from business, education, information up to entertaiment. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between personality traits (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and intelect) and time spent using Internet. To investigate the association partipicants completed croatian version of Goldbergs International Personality Item Pool (IPIP 50). Total number of 213 adult Internet users participated in the study. To determine the relationship between personality traits and time spent on Internet in this study was used correlation. Results implicate that there is a significant negative correlation between conscientiousness and time spent on Internet. There was also a statistical significant positive correlation between extraversion and time spent on Internet. However, results did not indicate significant correlation between agreeableness, emotional stability and intellect with time spent on Internet. Research also examined whether gender played a role and results show that there is significant difference between genders in agreeableness and emotional stability but also that there isn’t any difference between genders on extraversion, conscientiousness, intelect and intensity of using the Internet. Research didn’t find any statistical difference in relationship between Big Five personality traits and time spent on using the Internet. Results of regression analysis say that predictors (Big Five personality traits) in very small amount (9,5%) explain the variance of time spent using the Internet.
