Abstract
The concept learners’ perception has already been analyzed in order to better understand other related concepts like anxiety or motivation, but the role of the teacher, as seen through the eyes of learners, is an area that is in need of more research. The present research deals with the perception of the teachers’ classroom practice. The main focus is on how learners experience teachers' actions and practice and if there are any differences between the English and German classes. The study was conducted on the sample of first, second and fourth grade high school students. In order to collect the data, the 36-item questionnaire developed by Kikuchi and Brown (2009) was used. The results showed that there are significant differences between the learners of English and the learners of German in their reception of classroom practice. This paper discusses possible reasons why these differences are present.
Abstract (croatian)
Podaci o percepciji učenika već su se ranije analizirani kako bi se bolje razumjeli određeni vezani pojmovi kao što su strah i motivacija, no uloga učitelja gledana iz perspektive učenika područje je koje još zahtijeva proučavanje. Tek mali broj istraživanja proučavalo je učenikove stavove i percepciju nastave. Ovo istraživanje bavilo se percepcijom nastave hrvastkih učenika engleskoga i njemačkoga jezika. Najviše pažnje poklonilo se tome kako učenici doživljavaju rad i znanje učitelja i pitanju postoje li razlike u nastavi engleskoga i njemačkoga kao stranih jezika. Istraživanje je provedeno na uzorku prvih, drugih i četvrtih razreda srednjih škola. Za prikupljanje podataka korišten je upitnik od 36 pitanja kojega su razvili Kikuchi i Brown (2009.). Dobiveni podaci potvrdili su da postoji jasna razliku u percepciji nastave između učenika engleskog jezika i učenika njemačkog jezika. U radu se raspravlja o mogućim razlozima postojanja ovih razlika.
