Abstract
Životno razdoblje adolescencije karakteriziraju velike biološke, psihološke i socijalne promjene. U ovom periodu javljaju se mnogi psihički poremećaji. Vjerojatnost njihove pojave ovisi o brojnim rizičnim i zaštitnim faktorima, u koje se ubraja i osjetljivost na okolinu. Prema općoj teoriji osjetljivosti na okolinu, visoko osjetljiva djeca će, u usporedbi s nisko osjetljivom, imati više psihičkih teškoća u nepovoljnim okolnostima odrastanja, ali će također imati više koristi od povoljnih utjecaja iz okoline te će bolje reagirati na preventivne i tretmanske intervencije namijenjene unaprjeđenju mentalnog zdravlja. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati povezanost osjetljivosti na okolinu, psihičke uznemirenosti i učinkovitosti psihoterapijskog tretmana u kliničkom uzorku adolescenata. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 45-ero adolescenata (prosječna dob 15 godina, 31 djevojka) uključenih u psihoterapijski tretman u Psihijatrijskoj bolnici za djecu i mladež u Zagrebu te zdravstveno osoblje bolnice, koje je činilo pet zaposlenica – dvije psihijatrice, dvije psihologinje i glavna medicinska sestra. Adolescenti su ispunili Ljestvicu dječje osjetljivosti na okolinu i Upitnik psihičke uznemirenosti za mlade te su procijenili učinkovitost psihoterapijskog tretmana kojem su bili izloženi. Učinkovitost tretmana za svakog adolescenta procijenila je i po jedna od pet zdravstvenih djelatnica. Rezultati su pokazali da su adolescenti s višom razinom osjetljivosti na okolinu izvijestili i o višoj razini psihičke uznemirenosti. Adolescentske procjene učinkovitosti tretmana statistički su značajno pozitivno korelirale s procjenama učinkovitosti tretmana koje su dali zdravstveni djelatnici, ali osjetljivost na okolinu nije doprinosila objašnjenju varijance ni adolescentskih niti procjena zdravstvenih djelatnika. Adolescentskim procjenama učinkovitosti tretmana statistički je značajno doprinosila samo razina njihove psihičke uznemirenosti, dok je procjenama učinkovitosti tretmana od strane zdravstvenih djelatnica doprinosila samo dob adolescenata. Istraživanje pokazuje da je osjetljivost na okolinu osobina koju je važno uzeti u obzir pri razmatranju psihičke uznemirenosti adolescenata iz kliničkih uzoraka. Potrebna su daljnja istraživanja povezanosti osjetljivosti na okolinu i učinkovitosti psihoterapijskih tretmana.
Abstract (english)
Adolescence is a period characterized by significant biological, psychological, and social changes. During this time, many psychological disorders can arise. The likelihood of their occurrence depends on numerous risk and protective factors, including environmental sensitivity. According to the general theory of environmental sensitivity, highly sensitive children will have more psychological difficulties in unfavorable developmental circumstances, but they will also benefit more from positive environmental influences and respond better to interventions aimed at improving mental health. The aim of this study was to examine the associations between environmental sensitivity, psychological distress, and the efficacy of psychotherapeutic treatment in a clinical sample of adolescents. The study included 45 adolescents (average age 15 years, 31 girls) undergoing psychotherapeutic treatment at the Psychiatric Hospital for Children and Youth in Zagreb, as well as five hospital employees – two psychiatrists, two psychologists, and the head nurse. Adolescents completed the Highly Sensitive Child Scale and the Young Person's Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation outcome measure, and assessed the efficacy of the psychotherapeutic treatment they received. The treatment efficacy for each adolescent was also assessed by the healthcare workers. The results showed that adolescents with higher levels of environmental sensitivity reported higher levels of psychological distress. Adolescent assessments of treatment efficacy were significantly positively correlated with the assessments given by healthcare professionals. Environmental sensitivity contributed to the explanation of variance neither in adolescent nor healthcare professional assessments. The level of adolescents' psychological distress significantly contributed to their assessments of treatment efficacy, while only the age of the adolescents contributed to the healthcare professionals' assessments of treatment efficacy. The study indicates that environmental sensitivity is a trait that should be considered when examining psychological distress in adolescents from clinical samples. Further research on the relation between environmental sensitivity and the efficacy of psychotherapeutic treatments is needed.
