Abstract
This thesis comprises five translations with commentary. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones by James Clear, Spitfire: A Very British Love Story by John Nicol and You are what you read: Why changing your media diet can change the world by Jodie Jackson) and two from Croatian into English (Znanstvena istraživanja jezika i prevođenja by Nataša Pavlović and Mateusz-Milan Stojanović and Fiumanski, opet lažeš by Vid Barić). The commentary primarily focused on terminological problems encountered while translating different types of texts from English into Croatian and vice versa alongside various strategies that can be employed to address them. Moreover, some other common translation problems such as stylistic equivalence, ambiguity of the source text and culture-specific items were also covered by the commentary.

Diplomski rad sadrži pet prijevoda s popratnim komentarima. Izvaci iz triju knjiga prevedeni su s engleskog na hrvatski (Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones autora Jamesa Cleara, Spitfire: A Very British Love Story autora Johna Nicola i You are what you read: Why changing your media diet can change the world autorice Jodie Jackson), dok su izvaci dviju knjiga prevedeni s hrvatskog na engleski (Znanstvena istraživanja jezika i prevođenja autorice Nataše Pavlović i autora Mateusza-Milana Stojanovića i Fiumanski, opet lažeš autora Vida Barića). Naglasak u komentarima stavljen je na terminološke probleme s kojima se prevoditelji suočavaju prilikom prevođenja različitih vrsta tekstova s engleskog na hrvatski i obrnuto te raznim pristupima rješavanja istih. Nadalje, u komentarima se također govori o drugim učestalim prevoditeljskim problemima poput stilističke ekvivalencije, dvosmislenosti izvornika i kulturno-specifičnim pojmovima.
