Abstract
U ovom diplomskom radu opisuje se pojam lokalizacije, njezin povijesni kontekst i odnos s drugim disciplinama, kao i proces lokalizacije web-stranica iz perspektive web-programera i prevoditelja. U radu se također prikazuje interdisciplinarna priroda lokalizacije definiranjem problema na koje nailaze stručnjaci iz obje industrije prilikom lokalizacije web-stranica. Pri rješavanju izazova lokalizacije web-stranica, stručnjacima pomažu različiti alati koji su navedeni u radu. Istraživanje o procesu lokalizacije web-stranica, koje je predstavljeno u radu, provedeno je putem ankete namijenjene profesionalnim prevoditeljima i web-programerima iz Hrvatske i regije koji imaju iskustva u lokalizaciji web-stranica. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi prakse kojima se ispitanici najčešće služe i kako pri tome međusobno komuniciraju. Na kraju rada predstavljeni su rezultati istraživanja uz komentare ispitanika i zaključak.
Abstract (english)
In this research paper the phenomenon of localization is defined and described through its historical context, as well as its relation to other disciplines. The process of website localization from the perspective of professional web developers and translators is also presented in the paper. The interdisciplinary nature of localization is illustrated through the definition of the challenges of website localization that both translators and web developers encounter. There are numerous tools that help experts from both fields in the process, some of which are described in greater detail in this paper. Research on the process of website localization, which is presented in this paper, was conducted through an online survey in cooperation with professional translators and web developers from Croatia and neighbouring countries, who have experience in website localization. The aim of the research was to establish the practices that experts in translation and web development use during the process of website localization, and to determine how they communicate in the process. The results of the research, along with the respondents’ comments, and the final conclusion are presented at the end of the paper.
