Proces starenja pod utjecajem je genetskih čimbenika, no on ujedno i ovisi o uvjetima i načinu života (Mišigoj-Duraković, 2018).
Abstract (english) Ageing is a term that we define as a complex process that causes progressive and in most cases physiological changes, which are regulated by multiple mechanisms, in the body that are irreversible, and they lead to a state of old age. Aging leads to the "shut down" of the organism and for this reason we can determine that age is a major risk factor for various diseases (Marijan, 2016). The importance of physical activity is especially added because as people age, they reduce their level of physical activity, which can have a significant impact on the health of the elderly, especially those over 65 years of age (Sarkisian, Prohaska, Wong, Hirsch, & Mangione, 2005). The aging process is influenced by genetic factors, but it also depends on living conditions and lifestyle (Mišigoj-Duraković, 2018). The aim of this study was to determine whether there were changes in memory abilities and coordinated finger work in the elderly and to determine the difference in the effect of each activitiy program lasting ten weeks. The sample consisted of 34 elderly people with an average age of 69.39 ± 4.67, body height 161.21 ± 7.75 and body weight 76.21 ± 14.78. The sample consisted of 21 elderly people who participated in a nordic walking program and exercise with elastic props, while 13 of them participated in art programs. The variables observed in this study were collected by the Trailmaking Test, Purdue Pegboard Test, and Digit Span Test. The results showed that participation in these activity programs did not lead to a statistically significant (p>0,05) improvement in cognitive abilities and coordinated work with fingers compared to the initial measurement. The results also show that these programs can maintain the level of cognitive abilities and coordinated finger work, and these abilities can be improved to some extent. It was also obtained that the program of nordic walking and exercise with elastic props is not more effective than art programs and vice versa. This paper can be used practically because it indicates that in older people by participating in various physical activities and activities related to art can slow down the decline of cognitive abilities and coordinated work with the fingers and to some extent may improve them.
