Abstract (english) The aim of this study was to determine the relations between rhythm coordination, performance in dance and attitudes towards dance among the population of middle school students, and to examine whether rhythm coordination contributes to the performance of dance structures and whether there is a connection between attitude towards dance and dance performance. In order to verify the hypothesis that there is statistically significant relation between rhythm coordination and performance in dance, and between perfomance in dance and attitude towards dance, a study was conducted on the population of sixth, seventh and eighth grade middle school students (N=55) aged 13.81± 0.97 years, 25 boys and 30 girls, none of whom had been involved in any form of recreational or competitive dance training during their lifetime. Motor coordination ability in rhythm was tested with tests for rhythm coordination assessment: non-rhythmic drumming (MKRBUB), percussion on horizontal panels (MKRPLH) and drumming with feet and hands (MKRBNR). The mean values of all measurements were used for analysis. Performance in dance is evaluated with a numerical grade from 1 to 5 for the solo performance of the basic step of the English waltz in a dance hold on music at a tempo of 28-30 bars per minute. Attitude towards dance was assessed with the anonymous Questionnaire for Assessment of Attitudes towards Dance (SPP) with additional questions about gender and age. Statistica 14.0 program was used to determine descriptive indicators of the variables and groups of subjects, and the Shapiro-Wilk test detected that the results deviated significantly from the normal distribution, therefore the relations were determined by the Spearman correlation coefficient. A statistically significant (p<0,05) positive correlations of weak to moderate strength (r=0,35; r=0,49; r=0,5) were found between rhythm coordination and performance in dance and a statistically significant weak positive correlation (r=0,47; p=0,00) between success in dance and attitudes towards dance regarding gender. The hypothesis about the relations between the variables is confirmed because the correlation coefficient is significant.
