Abstract
Beta-glukan je bioaktivni spoj te se njegov utjecaj na imunosni sustav sve više istražuje. Pokazuje velik potencijal u liječenju mnogih bolesti stimulacijom imunosnog sustava pri čemu se posebno ističe njegov pozitivan učinak u liječenju oboljelih od raka. Također, pokazuje antioksidativna svojstva koja su pojačana međudjelovanjem s drugim sastavnicama hrane, što ga čini dobrim dodatkom prehrani. Kao dodatak prehrani koristi se pročišćeni beta-glukan, dok u prirodi postoje različiti izvori beta-glukana. Ovaj rad daje pregled utjecaja beta-glukana na različite komponente imunosnog sustava i mehanizame kojima se postiže imunustimulativni učinak.
Abstract (english)
Beta-glucan is bioactive compound and its impact on the immune system is increasingly investigated. It shows great potential in the treatment of many diseases by stimulating the immune system, especially by emphasizing its positive effect in treating cancer patients. It also shows antioxidant properties, which are intensified by interactions with other food ingredients making it a good supplement to nutrition. In the diet, purified beta-glucan is used, while in the nature there are different beta-glucan sources. This paper provides an overview of beta-glucan influences on various components of the immune system and mechanisms that achieve an immunostimulatory effect.
