Abstract
Ljekovite biljke od davnina se koriste u ljudskoj prehrani i liječenju različitih bolesti, što je ponajprije rezultat njihovog bogatog bioaktivnog sastava. Trava iva (Teucrium montanum L.) je biljna vrsta iz porodice Lamiaceae koja je rasprostranjena na području Hrvatske i Mediterana, a tradicionalno se koristi za liječenje brojnih zdravstvenih tegoba zbog izraženih antioksidacijskih, protuupalnih i antimikrobnih svojstava. Cilj ovog rada je sumirati podatke o bioaktivnom sastavu i biološkoj aktivnosti trave ive. Prema dostupnim podacima T. montanum izuzetno je bogata polifenolnim spojevima, posebice flavonoidima i fenolnim kiselinama koji su zaslužni za antioksidacijsko djelovanje te terpenoidima koji su odgovorni za antimikrobno djelovanje. U radu je prezentirana i važnost uporabe tradicionalnih ljekovitih biljaka te metode prikladne za ekstrakciju bioaktivnih sastojaka ljekovitih biljaka, posebice trave ive, ali potrebna su daljnja istraživanja sastava koja bi rezultirala primjenom u prehrambenoj i farmaceutskoj industriji.
Abstract (english)
Medicinal plants have been used for generations as a source of food and medicine for humans due to their rich bioactive composition. Mountain germander (Teucrium montanum L.) belongs to the Lamiaceae family, it grows in Croatia and the Mediterranean region and is traditionally used to treat many diseases due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The aim of this paper is to summarize data available about the bioactive composition and biological activity of mountain germander. According to available data T. montanum is rich in polyphenols, especially flavonoids and phenolic acids which are responsible for antioxidant properties and in terpenodis responsible for antimicrobial properties. This paper also presents the importance of using traditional medicinal plants and methods suitable for the extraction of bioactive compounds from medicnal plants, especially mountain germander, but further research needs to be done which would result in the use of mountain germander in the food and pharmaceutical industry.
