Abstract
Mikotoksini su sekundarni metaboliti plijesni koji su štetni za ljudsko zdravlje i životinje. Predstavljaju ozbiljan zdravstveni rizik te mogu izazvati različite zdravstvene probleme, uključujući akutna i kronična oboljenja. Iz tih razloga potrebno je kontrolirati koncentracije mikotoksina kako ne bi premašile dozvoljenu koncentraciju. Postoje kemijske, fizikalne i biološke metode uklanjanja mikotoksina od kojih su biološke metode najsigurnije i ekološki prihvatljivije te mogu koristiti mikroorganizme te adsorbense organskog ili anorganskog porijekla. Kako bi se ispitao potencijal otpada prehrambene industrije, u ovom radu ispitano je uklanjanje aflatoksina B₁ iz fosfatnog pufera pH 7 te citratnog pufera pH 3 pomoću običnog i kiselinski hidroliziranog pivskog tropa. Rezultati su pokazali uspješno uklanjanje AFB₁ primjenom oba adsorbensa tijekom 24 sata inkubacije. Najbolja adsorpcija zabilježena je nakon 24 sata primjenom kiselinski obrađenog tropa prilikom čega je iz pufera uklonjeno preko 80 % mikotoksina.
Abstract (english)
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by molds that are harmful to human and animal health. They pose a serious health risk and can cause various health issues, including acute and chronic diseases. For these reasons, it is necessary to control the concentrations of mycotoxins to ensure they do not exceed permissible levels. There are chemical, physical, and biological methods for mycotoxin removal, with biological methods being the safest and most environmentally friendly. These methods can utilize microorganisms and adsorbents of organic or inorganic origin. To evaluate the potential of food industry waste, this study examined the removal of aflatoxin B₁ from phosphate buffer pH 7 and citrate buffer pH 3 using both untreated and acid-hydrolyzed brewer's spent grain. The results demonstrated successful removal of AFB₁ using both adsorbents during a 24-hour incubation. The best adsorption was observed after 24 hours using the acid-treated spent grain, which removed over 80 % of the mycotoxin from the buffer.
