Abstract
Ionske tekućine su definirane kao organske soli koje su pri sobnoj temperaturi u tekućem stanju. Zbog jedinstvenih svojstava, ionske tekućine se koriste kao zamjena za tradicionalna organska otapala. Sve više se upotrebljavaju u industrijskim procesima, što je potaknulo znanstvenike da ispitaju njihovu toksičnost i mogući utjecaj na zdravlje ljudi i okoliš. U ovom radu ispitan je utjecaj 1-butil-3-metilimidazolijevog acetata na rast i klijanje ječma (Hordeum vulgare). Nakon 7-dnevnog uzgoja ječma pri različitim masenim koncentracijama ionske tekućine određen je stupanj inhibicije klijanja ječma te su analizirane aktivnosti antioksidativnih enzima superoksid-dismutaze (SOD), nespecifičnih peroksidaza (POD), katalaze (CAT) i askorbat-peroksidaze (APOX). Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da 1-butil-3-metilimidazolijev acetat ima toksičan učinak na rast i klijanje ječma, pri čemu toksičnost raste s povećanjem koncentracije ionske tekućine.
Abstract (english)
Ionic liquids are defined as organic salts which are liquids at room temperature. Due to their features, ionic liquids are used as substitute for traditional organic solvents. They are being used more frequently in industrial processes, which provoked scientists to investigate their toxicity and their potential effect on the environment and human health. In this work the effect of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate on growth and germination of barley (Hordeum vulgare) was studied. After a 7-day cultivation of barley at different concentrations of ionic liquid, inhibition of barley germination was determined and activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) and ascorbat-peroxidase (APOX)were analized. The results indicate that 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate possess toxic effect on growth and germination of barley, whereby toxicity is pronounced by increase in ionic liquid's concentration.
