Abstract
U proteklih 150 godina, zbog emisije stakleničkih plinova, došlo je do porasta globalnih temperatura za otprilike 1,5 °C. Takva promjena temperature uzrokuje razne promjene u slatkovodnim ekosustavima. Slatkovodnim ekosustavima smatraju se tekućice, jezera i močvare. Tekućicama se mijenja režim te mehanizam otjecanja. Jezerima se mijenjaju trofija i miješanje, a stratifikacija traje sve duže. Močvare presušuju zbog nedostatka padalina i smanjenja razine podzemne vode. Korištenjem obnovljivih izvora energije poput hidroenergije smanjuje se emisija stakleničkih plinova, no izgradnjom brana mijenjaju se hidrološka obilježja tekućice te životni uvjeti tog staništa. Degradacija staništa te promjena životnih uvjeta ugrožava brojne autohtone vrste koje nisu prilagođene na takve uvjete. Vrstama čije je razmnožavanje uvjetovano temperaturom mijenjaju se životni ciklusi. Ribama nije omogućena migracija kako bi se mogle mrijestiti, a brojne se jezerske vrste zadržavaju u dubljim, hladnijim slojevima. Raste broj invazivnih vrsta koje su bolje prilagođene na novonastale uvjete, a nanose štetu autohtonim populacijama i degradiraju ekosustav. Ako emisije stakleničkih plinova i globalne temperature nastave trend porasta, posljedice na slatkovodne ekosustave će se pogoršati.
Abstract (english)
In the last 150 years due to Greenhouse gas emissions, the global temperature has risen about 1,5 °C. Such change in temperature has multiple consequences on freshwater ecosystems. Rivers, lakes and wetlands are considered freshwater ecosystems. Rivers experience change in regime and flow mechanism. Lakes experience change in primary production and mixing patterns, also thermal stratification lasts longer. Lack of precipitation and low groundwater levels are the cause of wetland drainage. The usage of renewable energy sources, as hydro energy, reduce the emissions of GHG, but change the hydrological and biological characteristics of rivers. Degradation of habitats and change of living conditions endanger native species that are not able to adapt quickly. Species which reproduction is temperature dependent experience change in life cycles. Fish are not able to migrate and many species living in lakes stay near ground as the water there is cooler. The number of invasive species, who are better adapted, is rising. Invasive species harm native species and further degrade ecosystems. If GHG emissions and global temperatures don’t stop rising the effects on freshwater ecosystems will be even more damaging.
