Abstract
Prekomjerna upotreba plastike zbog svojih pogodnih mehaničkih svojstava te jeftine proizvodnje dovela je do velikih problema današnjice. Zagađen okoliš te oceani i mora imaju izravan utjecaj na zdravlje čovjeka. Kako bi se riješio problem neumorno se radi na razvijanju i poboljšanju tehnologija proizvodnje biorazgradive plastike. Svojstvo biorazgradivosti, razgradnje plastike na jednostavne spojeve pomoću mikroorganizama, omogućuje smanjenje otpada u budućnosti bez toksičnih ostataka. Biorazgradivi polimeri pružaju veliku zainteresiranost jer postoji veliki raspon i mogućnost primjene u mnogo industrija. Biorazgradive polimere dijelimo na prirodne i sintetske. Prirodni su dobiveni iz obnovljivih, prirodnih izvora kao što su biljno i životinjsko tkivo, a sintetski iz naftnih derivata. U ovome radu prikazana je proizvodnja najčešćih biorazgradivih polimera iz pojedinih sirovina. Prikazan je pregled osnovnih mehanizama biorazgradnje te koji čimbenici i bakterije utječu na razgradnju. Također su prikazani prednosti i nedostaci biorazgraivih polimera te primjeri biorazgradive ambalaže.
Abstract (english)
The overuse of plastic due to its convenient mechanical properties and inexpensive manufacturing has led to major problems today. The polluted environment and the oceans and seas have a direct impact on human health. In order to solve the problem, tireless work is being done to develop and improve biodegradable plastics production technologies. The biodegradability, the breakdown of plastics into simple compounds by microorganisms, enables the reduction of waste in the future without toxic residues. Biodegradable polymers are of great interest because there is a wide range and potential to be used in many industries. Biodegradable polymers are divided into natural and synthetic ones. Natural ones are obtained from renewable, natural sources such as plant and animal tissue, and synthetically from petroleum products. The production of the most common biodegradable polymers from particular raw materials is presented in this paper. An overview of the basic mechanisms of biodegradation and what factors and bacteria affect degradation are presented. The advantages and disadvantages of biodegradable polymers and examples of biodegradable packaging are also presented.
