Abstract
This paper examines the specific role of the clown in gothic fiction. Throughout deep research, there is an attempt to present its negative side in the film/literature and its great ability to exploit fear through his physical appearance, inner motives and actions as well. Moreover, this paper analyses clown as a combination of humor and horror which makes him the perfect antagonist.

Ovaj rad proučava specifičnu ulogu klauna u gotičkoj fikciji. Kroz duboku analizu, nastoji se prikazati njegova negativna strana u samom filmu/literaturi i njegova ogromna sposobnost prestrašivanja kroz fizički izgled kao i kroz unutrašnje motive i sama djela. Također, ovaj rad analizira klauna kao kombinaciju humora i horora koja ga čini naizgled savršenim antagonistom.
