Abstract
Kiklop, a masterpiece of Croatian literature, written by Croatian novelist and dramatist, Ranko Marinković, finally got its translation in 2010, almost fifty years after the book was firstly published. In the sphere of world literature, there is just a small area set for small literature, while the majority is filled by works of literary forces which have been maintaining their high position in the world for a long period. The case of Cyclops shows just one example of problems which may occur in every nation which is considered to be marginal in the immense polysystem of literature. This B.A. thesis deals with issues connected to world literature and difficulties which small literatures are experiencing in order to get recognition in the world, which is shown on the example of Kiklop/Cyclops.
Abstract (croatian)
Kiklop, remek-djelo hrvatske književnosti koje je napisao hrvatski romanopisac i dramatičar Ranko Marinković, naposljetku je dobio prijevod 2010. godine, skoro pedeset godina nakon što je roman prvi put bio objavljen. U području svjetske književnosti postoji tek uzak prostor koji je određen za „malu“ književnost dok je većina prostora popunjena književnim djelima velikih sila koje su dugi niz godina održavale svoj visoki položaj u poretku svjetske književnosti. Prijevod i slučaj Kiklopa (Cyclops) pokazuje tek jedan od problema koji se mogu pojaviti u bilo kojem narodu koji se smatra marginalnim u prostranom sustavu književnosti. Ovaj rad bavi se problemima povezanim sa svjetskom književnošću i poteškoćama s kojima se „male“ književnosti susreću kako bi bile prepoznate u svijetu što je pokazano na primjeru Kiklopa i njegovog prijevoda (Cyclops)
