Abstract
Proces starenja prati niz različitih promjena koje imaju utjecaj i na prehrambene potrebe osoba starije populacije. Jedan od pokazatelja pravilne prehrane je status uhranjenosti koji se može odrediti pomoću različitih metoda. Metode određivanja statusa uhranjenosti koje su korištene u ovom radu su indeks tjelesne mase (BMI) i određivanje sastava tijela pomoću bioelektrične impedancije. Podaci su prikupljani mjerenjem ispitanika koji su smješteni u Domu za starije i nemoćne osobe Đakovo (n=47) i u vlastitom smještaju na području grada Đakova (n=50). BMI rezultati pokazuje da većina ispitanika ima povećanu tjelesnu masu ili pretilost. Klasificirane vrijednosti sastava tijela ukazuju na visoki udio masnog tkiva i nizak udio mišićne mase. Više je pretilih ispitanika u skupini Doma za starije i nemoćne osobe uz veći udio masnog tkiva i manje vrijednosti mišićne mase u odnosu na skupinu ispitanika vlastitog smještaja. Na osnovu dobivenih podataka potvrđena je i pozitivna povezanost između indeksa tjelesne mase i udjela masnog tkiva. Analizom podataka o zdravstvenom statusu prikupljenih samoprijavom i statusa uhranjenosti potvrđeno je da prekomjerna uhranjenost za posljedicu ima niz različitih bolesti osobito onih vezanih uz kardiovaskularni sustav.
Abstract (english)
The aging process is followed by a number of different changes that have an impact on nutritional needs of elderly. The best indicator of proper nutrition is the nutritional status that can be determined by various methods. Methods used in this work are body mass index (BMI) and body composition determinated by bioelectric impedance. The data were collected from respondents who live in Residential home for elderly Đakovo (n=47) and those who live in their own home in the area of Đakovo (n=50). The BMI results show that most respondents are overweight or obese. Classified values of body composition indicate a high proportion of fatty tissue and low muscle mass. There is a higher obesity rate in the group of respondents in the residential home with a higher proportion of fatty tissue and lower muscle mass values compared to the group who live in their own home. Based on the data obtained, a positive correlation between the body mass index and the fat tissue was also confirmed. Analysis of health status data gathered by self-report and nutritional status confirmed the fact that overnutrition results in a variety of diseases, particularly those associated with cardiovascular system.
