In the last few years there is more evidence of wolf (Canis lupus) attacks during driven hunts on hunting dogs. Attacks are a serious problem causing great damage to the hunting society. The problem points to wolf behaviour changes, which are biologically extremely interesting and unexplored. This research identified the place, time, frequency, circumstances and consequences of wolf attack on hunting dogs. Geographic map was drawn up with the places of wolf attacks. We took a data about number of ungulates on the territory of wolf presence. The total number of wolf and hunting dogs interaction in the Republic of Croatia was 112. Research has shown that in 91,9 % of cases dogs are attacked during the hunting time, and that the highest number of hunting dogs was injured during quarry shootings (70,5 %). The proximity of livestock production is associated with the places of wolf attacks. The wolf more often attacks male dogs than females. Most of the wolf attacks on hunting dogs (51) occurred in areas where there is a known problem of wolf attack on game and livestock. The attacks along the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina show a large activity of border packs on whose outbreaks outside of Croatia almost nothing is known because of the lack of cross-border cooperation, which imposes a need for strengthening of the monitoring of the wolf on the Croatian side of the border.
