Project management as a scientific discipline is developing day by day and gaining more importance. Projects are present in all industries, from engineering to marketing, therefore the development of new techniques, methodologies and competences are necessary. It is precisely the competencies of project managers that are crucial for the successful implementation of a project from the initiation phase to completion. Marketing as an industry is constantly developing, it is extremely susceptible to changes in the environment, and projects are the basis of its work. Marketing agencies are the most common places where projects are implemented, but also in various organizations and their internal marketing departments. Managers of marketing projects are those who manage teams of people and for whom it is extremely important to continuously develop their competencies in order to make the execution of the project as successful as possible. The goal of this research was to compare the already identified competencies of marketing project managers according to the available literature with the results of research conducted in agencies and among marketing project managers.
