In todays digital age, attention is rarely paid to copyright and author protection, especially when it comes to advertising on social media, downloading content from social media users to advertise companies or other forms of more or less obvious online advertising such as pop-up advertising. . Copyright infringement often occurs in the digital environment, and solutions should be found in international, European and Croatian legal solutions. Legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia, the European Union and thus the world are getting closer to harmonizing legal regulations on this issue, but due to the rapidly changing possibilities of technology,, we lare living in a time of court precedents in this field. This paper will analyze the basic concepts of legal regulation of copyright, ways of copyright protection and will deal with cases in which such protections are implemented. The aim of the research part of the paper is to examine the level of familiarity of copyright users and other employees in advertising, marketing or some other related fields in the Republic of Croatia with the concept of copyright and its protection. The expected scientific contribution is reflected in establishing the level of familiarity of the main actors in marketing and advertising with the concepts of copyright and their protection and detecting the main problems in this area, as well as proposing possible solutions for the future.
