The topic of the final paper is the Economics of fruit production, introduction to the concept of fruit evolution, economics and the development of fruit production in the world and in Croatia. What is the assignment, tasks and methods used by the economics of production. Presentation of fruit production statistics in Croatia in 2019 and statistics of planted areas with fruit crops. Introduction to the family farm Filip Jakob Čolaković, a young farmer who planted 3.57 ha of intensive cherry orchards in 2017. The cost-effectiveness of fruit production, which is shown on the data basis from family farms, where calculations are used to show the investment in one hectare of modern cherry orchards. Mechanization, machinery and other fixed assets available to the family farm are also described in details. Analyzes and calculations also show the extent of the initial investment and the investment return in the upcoming years. There are also described the measures of the European Union and state aid with which the family farm achieved its goals. The paper also presents a review of fruit production through insufficient investment in new technologies, unused arable land by fruit crops, repurchase of fruit production, constant climate changes, excessive imports of fruits, vegetables and other foods into Croatia. The initial part of the final work consists of a theoretical part, which tries to further explain the topic of the work, while the final part shows the success and cost-effectiveness of investing in cherry production.
