Companies that implement socially responsible business are those that take care of the environment and society into account when making business decisions and planning. Corporate social responsibility is a form of behavior in which companies show that they are responsible and that through their business they want to contribute to the betterment of the world. Every company can and should conduct socially responsible business in its own way, ie it should find its own ways to efficiently and effectively conduct socially responsible business. Companies are aware that through socially responsible business they can at the same time help the environment and society but also achieve a competitive advantage. Corporate social responsibility is practiced by large number of companies in the world, including companies in the Republic of Croatia. When it comes to the Republic of Croatia, the development of socially responsible business took place somewhat later than in the world and socially responsible business is still not at the level it should be, although the situation is improving from year to year. The most unsuccessful sector in the practice of corporate social responsibility is the public sector, and the highest initiatives and activities related to corporate social responsibility are visible in the civil sector. One of the companies that actively practice socially responsible business and are a positive example of a socially responsible company is Kaufland Hrvatska k.d. The paper will show how Kaufland has been operating socially responsibly through the years and what it has done for the community and the environment in the Republic of Croatia.
