The main goal of this paper was to explain what cloud computing is in general as well as giving an insight into different types of cloud architectures offered today (private, public and hybrid architectures). Further it is explained what the differences between the three types of cloud service models (Infrastructure as a service, Platform as a service and Software as a service) are. What is also explained are the advantages and disadvantages of different types of cloud architectures in addition to the advantages and disadvantages of using the different types of cloud computing service models. Next, there is an explanation of the history and the purpose of the University Computing Centre SRCE of University of Zagreb along with the description of its most prominent cloud computing services which are available to all of the members of higher education in the Republic of Croatia. Croatian Scientific and Educational Cloud is a project within SRCE with the goal of developing new computing and storage clouds which will modernize and decentralize the cloud infrastructure used for scientific purposes in Croatia. Isabella is a cluster of computers in SRCE used for processing and analyzing data in scientific papers. Croatian National Grid Infrastructure is a network of distributed computer nodes located in various scientific and higher-educational institutions which provides the service of highthroughput cloud computing (called appropriately HTC Cloud) as well as JupyterLab service which enables the users to type and execute their own code as well as do data analysis. Finally, there is a description of the SRCE cloud computing services Virtual Private Servers and Virtual Classrooms and Laboratories which, as the name suggests, offer the services of virtual private servers along with virtual classrooms and laboratories to students, professors and teaching assistants in higher education.
