Sažetak | The main purpose of this Bachelor Thesis is the creation of a business database with the data gathered about the booking of working spaces available in RiHub. RiHub is a cultural, information and participation center in the City of Rijeka which was opened as an integrative part of the project European Capital of Culture, the title Rijeka will hold in the year 2020. All other programmes included in the project Rijeka 2020 were explained in a few sentences to create a general picture of what is intended for Rijeka and its future development. Furthermore, the usage of working spaces in RiHub is described in more detail to provide the overview of what is being done in there. A brief generalized history of databases, by decades of their emergence, is presented together with the history of Microsoft Access (the software i.e. Database Management System, that was used for the development of this particular business database). The process of creating this entire business database (tables, relationships between tables, queries, form, form with subform and report) for RiHub is shown in this Bachelor thesis by using screenshots and the accompanying explanations. Also, this Bachelor thesis contains a number of suggestions for its future improvements, provided that more detailed data are gathered about users and events happening in RiHub. Improvements of this business database would serve for better processing of data and further utilization of the same data for whatever purposes needed. It may also serve to improve the manner in which the provision of RiHub’s services is conducted in order to make it more transparent, economical and user-friendly. The conclusion represents the summation of all parts and everything that was discussed previously in this Bachelor thesis. Also, it contains the concluding remarks on how the created business database can be beneficial in the future primarily for RiHub’s users, events, and related working spaces, as it represents the cultural, information and participation center of Rijeka 2020 (European Capital of Culture) project. |
