Logistics refers to the precise planning and execution of a complex task related to the movement of goods. Since many small businesses focus on developing and manufacturing their products and servicesto best meet the needs of customers, if those products cannot reach customers, the business will fail because logistics impacts multiple elements of the business. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the impact of the pandemic COVID-19 on the logistics market, more specifically on the road transport sector, and to what extent. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many businesses and economies around the world, including the logistics market. However, logistics is one of the few businesses that can, or even must, operate in times of crisis such as a pandemic or war, as they are an essential part of supply chains. Both quantitative and qualitative secondary data are used for the analysis. The methods used in the analysis are descriptive method, comparative method and descriptive statistics methods. The impact of COVID-19 on the market was unprecedented and at the time of writing this thesis the pandemic has not yet ended. The initial supply chain disruption occurred in China, where the virus first appeared. From there, it quickly spread worldwide, affecting nearly every single country in the world and China's trading partners. One of the biggest disruptions affected the global freight forwarding and logistics market, along with other disruptions such as labor shortages due to self-isolation and fragmented supply chains due to docked carriers. The impact was evident in the delays and shortages of goods caused by border closures and global lockdowns. Overall, global supply chains were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, further impacting the logistics and transportation industry and all its segments.
