The digital age has fundamentally changed many aspects of human life, and with its ongoing transformation, current human knowledge is insufficient. It requires the constant acquisition of new technological, social, and humanistic knowledge to facilitate easier access to various digital forms. Innovation brings a greater representation of diverse possibilities, and this paper aims to explore how the education system contributes to this, particularly examining the connection between the studies at the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka and practice. An integral part of the work is a survey in which students self-assess the actual application of the acquired digital knowledge and knowledge and skills of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the business world, which of course gives an objective insight into the correlation. The theoretical part will cover the relevant factors of the digital area and analyze the events' course, the representation shares and the general situation in other European Union members in order to get a real insight into Croatian positioning within the same parameters. The empirical part follows the scientific survey method and focuses only on students who enrolled the part-time online study program and who are already employed. Such respondents will best provide the concrete insights and guidelines for establishing a further plans and programs for the curriculum of courses in the digital field.
