This paper deals with the issue of consumer protection importance in the Republic of Croatia. Consumer in Republic of Croatia is protected by the Consumer Protection Act from unfair commercial activity on market, where consumer buys products and services. This paper explores the problem of an uneven regulatory framework that creates certain obstacles to the functioning of the internal market, which undermines confidence of consumer and affects the cost of business. As elaborated, the law protects consumer in some way, but the sanctions of unfair traders are not enough to affect the entire market of the Republic of Croatia, but only affects the defendant(s). The following methods were used when compiling and collecting: deduction method, compilation method, comparating metod, description and specializiation method. The Republic of Croatia has developed the Consumer Protection Act only at the begining of preparations for entry into the European Union. It is important to note that there is a certain harmonization, by which all laws and acts relating to consumer protection and bringing benefits to consumers are aligned with the law of the European Union. Effective market and mass production opens up many opportunities for marketers, which is why it is necessary to provide consumers with efficient and effective protection. By applying the legal regulations consumers have the opportunity to be familiar with the product specifications but also to protect themselves in the event of a violation of their rights. A properly informed consumer can independently defend himself from unfair commercial actions and actively and safely participate in the market.
