The banking system represents a very important component in the economy of each country. Although a large number of authors say that the financial stability and banking stability are the same. Financial stability has largely determined the stability of the banking system because if financial stability is compromised it will be difficult to maintain a stable banking system. There are many factors that determine the degree of financial stability. In addition, different types of risks affect the creation of bank and financial crises that jeopardize financial stability. Different macroeconomic factors determine the level of stability of the banking system. The aim of this study is to show the impact of the most important macroeconomic indicators such as economic growth, interest rates, and public and external debt. Through the indicators of liquidity, profitability and capitalization, the degree of banking stability is determined. Based on the conducted linear regression analysis, the negative impact of Croatian economic growth on bank stability has been proved, while European economic growth has been excluded from the observed model due to high correlations with other variables. The impact of interest rates on loans is negative for all indicators of bank stability. Public debt also negatively affects all observed stability indicators. The only positive impact has been from foreign debts to profitability. None macroeconomic factor had the same effect on the observed banking stability indicators.
