In today's world, both in business and private sectors, increasingly larger and larger amounts of time and attention are being paid to the efficiency of individual tasks. The accelerated pace of work, enabled by unstoppable progress of technology, has led to expectations that tasks should be performed faster and more precisely than before. If a task took 10 hours to do twenty years ago then by today's standards, we expect either a much shorter time to complete the same scope of work or a significantly higher yield within the same time frame. With such a focus on optimization, it is no surprise that Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology is developing more rapidly year by year. Every business wants to reduce costs, accelerate work, increase precision, and thereby reduce errors, thereby freeing human resources from the repetitive parts of the job so they can focus on the creative part that requires critical thinking. The goal of this research was therefore to observe, implement, and analyze the impact of RPA technology on a specific business example, for which HEP Plin d.o.o. proved to be an excellent candidate. Their monthly processing of billing data was inefficient, time-consuming, and consequently quite expensive. Using the case study method a new way of working was presented, utilizing software robots that are significantly faster, cheaper and less prone to errors then their human counterparts. This insight into the operation of RPA technology demonstrates the significant impact modern technology can have on optimizing business processes.
