The economic crisis caused by the virus already known to mankind left unexpected shocks and caused instability on a global scale. Since the appearance of the first case of infection by virus COVID-19 in China, the whole world is closely monitoring the situation and is planning measures aimed at protecting its citizens. This thesis deals with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system in Croatia. The beginning of the paper describes the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and presents the main macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Croatia. Following with more details for the measures to suppression the infection and the challenges that arose during the online classes organization. Consequently, the ways and methods of evaluation in the adapted model of educational processes and the connection between online teaching and learning outcomes are presented through data. The central part of the paper presents the situations in other countries and Croatia and lists the difficulties and obstacles that students and school staff encountered. In the analysis, a sample of 98 students from two primary schools represented a sample for the research of how the pandemic affected learning, the organization of monitoring of classes, and the emotional state of students. Also, the teachers of the mentioned classrooms participated in the research and through their answers expressed their opinions and views regarding their readiness for information and communication technology, satisfaction with conducting online classes, and the level of complexity and stress of the new model of the education system.
